It’s still unclear when negotiations with the IMF and the European Union will be held, as those institutions insist that Hungary first needs to fulfill certain fiscal conditions. Hungary’s government has so far insisted that those conditions have been met. Tamás Fellegi, minister without portfolio, has travelled to Washington this week in order to discuss the options. The government announced in November that it is willing to negotiate with IMF and prime minister Viktor Orban has said that while he’s been waiting for two months for delegates to negotiate with, but that it seems to him now that they are not coming.
