Taro Asian restaurant relocates to Palác Dunaj on Národní třída in Prague

6 August 2024

The newly renovated Palác Dunaj in the heart of the city is rapidly filling with distinguished tenants, the latest being the acclaimed Taro restaurant, which is relocating from Anděl. In its new location, Taro aims to elevate its gastronomic offerings and become Prague’s premier dining destination. The stylish new space is set to open in early December.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with the owners of Taro. Preparations for their launch in Palác Dunaj are meticulous, as they aspire to earn a Michelin star. Everything is being aligned to achieve this goal. In the coming months, we will focus on the interior design, while their staff will undergo training in renowned restaurants worldwide,” commented Michal Nečas, Managing Director of Zeitgeist Asset Management. Zeitgeist purchased the historic 100-year-old Palác Dunaj for a German pension fund and is overseeing its leasing and management.

Palác Dunaj’s prime location continues to attract prestigious tenants. The domestic offices of the European Commission Representation and the European Parliament Office, which jointly run the Europa Experience interactive center, have already moved in. Other notable tenants include the international law firm CMS and the European Investment Bank.

“Currently, only one office floor and one retail unit on the ground floor remain available. The European Parliament and the European Commission Representation have already settled in, and other tenants are finalizing their fit-outs with a planned move-in date in the autumn,” stated Jaromír Zahrada, Asset Manager at Zeitgeist.

“In the new Taro, we aim to perfect every detail. We will retain the open kitchen and surrounding seating from our original space in Anděl, while enhancing the overall experience. We are collaborating with individuals who have Michelin-starred restaurant expertise to achieve this,” said Giang Ta, who manages the restaurant’s operations while his brother Khanh leads the kitchen. He added, “Additionally, we are setting up our own bakery next to the restaurant, focusing on unique French-Vietnamese fusion products. We are confident that people will be thrilled.”

Národní třída is a popular destination for both tourists and locals, frequented for work and leisure. The commercial units in Palác Dunaj, located near the National Theatre, Slavia café, and the Czech Academy of Sciences, will add significant value to the area. The extensive renovation of the building was led by the international architectural firm Chapman Taylor and general contractor Geosan Group. Palác Dunaj is aiming to achieve the internationally recognized LEED Gold and WELL Gold certifications.
