Over 473,000 unemployed were registered in February 2012, virtually the same as in Janaury at 5.27 percent. The National Agency for Employment said that men were slightly more likely to be out of work than women, with the rates 5.65 percent for men, and just 4.83 percent.
The highest unemployment rates are to be found in Vaslui (10.06 percent), Mehedinti (9.74 percent), Teleorman (8.87 percent) and Dolj (8.80 percent). The National Agency for Employment reported that at the end of 2011, 71,722 of those out of work were under the age of 25, while 37,623 were between the ages of 25 and 29.
