The Czech balance of trade ended the month of January with a surplus of CZK 29.6bn, according to the Czech Statistical Office. It’s the largest surplus ever recorded by the country since its founding, having risen CZK 11.7bn compared to January in 2012. Imports rose 6.3 percent during the first month of the year, but exports grew more quickly at 11 percent. The trade balance is solidly in the black thanks to the country’s dealins with other European Union members, as the surplus with these countries is CZK 68.8bn. By contrast, the country runs a deficit with non-EU countries of CZK 39.2bn.
