Civic Platform’s lead in polls strengthens

8 March 2012

According to a recent poll carried out by TNS/OBOP this month, Civic Platform (PO) continues to be the strongest force in Poland’s parliament with 29 percent. Led by Donald Tusk, the center-right party saw support for it increased by 1 percent, compared to a poll taken in February. On the other hand, while it had improved according to a previous poll, the opposition party Law and Justice (PiS) fell 4 percent in February with its 22 percent showing. The third is Palikot Movement (Ruch Palikota) with its 12 percent support, while the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) is on 8 percent. However, the poll found that PO’s junior coalition partner Polish Peasant’s Party (PSL) would pick up just 5 percent of the vote if elections were held now.
