KGHM went international

7 March 2012

Poland’s copper giant has sealed its Canadian deal which is the acquisition of Quadra FNX company. Europe’s second largest copper producer KGHM has paid PLN 9.1bn for the Canadian company which from now on will be called KGHM International. Quadra’s former CEO Paul Blythe is to keep his position continuing to lead the Canadian management team. One of KGHM’s International most pressing tasks is to continue talks with native Indians in the eastern Ontario region which, if successful, would assure Poland’s producer further development. “We have a good working relationship with Quadra FNX and expect that to continue as we move toward negotiating a final agreement,” says Steve Miller, Chief of the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek community, which is based 20km from Greater Sudbury, Canada. The final agreement is to respect the interests of both the Atikameksheng and Quadra.
