Poland to sign European fiscal pact

2 March 2012

Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed today that Poland is about to sign the European fiscal treaty at the current summit in Brussels. Tusk also let it be known that none of his ministers have any doubts about the final version of the document. Yesterday, the PM said that Poland has no intention of changing its commitment to signing the pact, but said that given its importance, there could be no misgivings about its contents. So far, only Czech Republic and UK have refused to sign the document that is planned to take effect in January 2013, after being ratified by at least 12 EU countries.
