Skanska Reality has announced that it appointed a new CEO in January. Mikael Matts has been chosen to replace Björn Mattson, and should take advantage of his thirteen years of experience at JM, a leading Swedish developer and construction company. During his first month at Skanska, he concentrated on getting an understanding of the company and the Czech market, admitting that the volume of administrative paperwork in the planning process came as an unpleasant surprise to him. Land acquisitions will be a priority for Skanska Reality, he says, as well as building low-energy and zero energy houses. “This is an area of the market where we see major opportunities for growth. Retaining Skanska’s leadership position in this area is one of our main goals,” says Matts.
