One of the biggest taxi companies in Bucharest, Taxi Mondial, has filed for insolvency, after it emerged that the company had lost several million RON. According to company owner Georgeta Puiu the taxi company will not close for business and will continue to function. She wouldn’t disclose any further details concerning why the company had taken the action, but according to data available on the Ministry of Finance, Taxi Mondial Ltd company had turnover of RON 2.3m in 2010 and a net loss of almost RON 3.7m.
The problem, it appears, has been growing for some time. In 2008, it made RON 5m in turnover, and a net loss of almost RON 270,000, while in 2009 turnover fell to RON 3.9m compared to RON 1.8m in losses. Earlier last year, the company had around 180 employees.
