Toyota Motor Manufacturing Poland (TMMP) announced a significant drop in production at the one of its biggest production plant in the city of Wałbrzych. The Japanese car maker has been hit hard by the slowdown in the industry and will lay off 200 of its temporary employees. The company announced further that it would be switching from three to two shifts at its plant, starting in May. “As the number of orders has declined sharply, we need to lay off workers employed on temporary contracts,” said Grzegorz Górski, manager of administration and corporate affairs at Toyota Poland. He told the daily Gazeta Wyborcza that no permanent workers would lose their jobs.
