ECO-Classic announces ESG policy and strategy

4 June 2024

In response to the challenges of climate change and new ESG regulations, a Polish property developer (a company with 100% Polish capital) has started to implement its ESG strategy, starting with the training of all employees.

ECO-Classic, a developer with more than 40 years of experience in the market, is proud to announce the implementation of its new ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) policy and strategy. The company is consciously preparing for its planned regulatory obligations to deliver real value to its customers and stakeholders.

ECO-Classic commissioned the Savills ESG & Sustainability team to develop an ESG Policy and Strategy. The analysis included the company’s internal and external situation, ESG materiality research and training for management and all employees. Work on the project took 6 months and all employees of the company were involved in the process.

As a result, Savills created an ESG Policy and Strategy for ECO-Classic, setting standards for environmental protection, managing relationships with employees, clients and suppliers, and ethical behaviour to create long-term sustainable value. It also set next steps such as implementing action plans, monitoring progress and reporting in line with international standards.

“We are a company with more than 40 years of experience and it is important to us that the next generation can enjoy our planet as we do. We recognise what the legacy we have received and will leave behind means. ESG is a way to better describe the values that guide our work. It is a way for the whole Company to better understand each other – why do we act this way and not that way?” said Marcin Fabinski, CEO of ECO-Classic.

In its new ESG policy, ECO-Classic commits to designing and managing buildings in a sustainable way to combat climate change and minimise negative environmental impacts. The company is relying on cutting-edge technology to implement the principles of a closed water cycle economy, thereby achieving high energy efficiency and increasing biodiversity. It also plans to analyse and develop policies for responsible water management, the use of recycled and lower carbon footprint building materials and to increase project flexibility to avoid wasting resources. ECO-Classic prioritises climate-resilient and future-proof projects and is committed to implementing procedures for analysing physical climate risks and implementing pilot projects in this area.
The pillars of corporate social responsibility and corporate governance are also an important part of the policy.
In the context of social responsibility, ECO-Classic is committed to the health and safety of its employees, contractors and customers. The company wants to promote gender equality, fair wages and respect for human rights throughout the value chain. Transparent communication and countering greenwashing are also important elements. Although this sounds very general, behind each of these elements are very concrete measures, the implementation of which has already begun.

In the area of corporate governance, ECO-Classic is introducing management principles that support sustainability. To achieve this, the company has created an internal ESG infrastructure involving all organisational units.

“It is of great value to me that in working with ECO-Classic we were able to propose and carry out the whole process almost by the book, the way it should look, there were no shortcuts. When setting strategic goals, we heard more than once from the client, it’s okay, it’s difficult and labour-intensive for us, let’s do it reliably and the way it should be done. The company’s management board participated in all the working workshops during the creation of the strategy and I am very pleased to see the same interest in the implementation of the planned activities,” said Katarzyna Chwalbińska-Kusek – Head of ESG & Sustainability at Savills in Poland.
