The international construction group HSF System, which is part of the PURPOSIA Group holding, has actively participated in ESG sustainability reporting according to EU standards. This year, it plans to own rooftop photovoltaic power plants or incorporate electric vehicles into the company fleet.
The HSF System construction group in the Czech Republic and Slovakia focuses not only on the environmental sustainability of the buildings it itself implements as a general contractor, but also strives to bring “green” solutions to its corporate headquarters and its own development projects under the ANTRACIT brand. “From the investors’ side, sustainable construction is one of the basic requirements for cooperation and we try to meet these requirements. So, in addition to the European standard for sustainable construction according to BREEAM and DGNB certification, we have started ESG reporting in our construction group according to the new EU standards, even though it is not yet mandatory,” says Tomáš Kosa, director of the HSF System construction group.
Last year, HSF System’s construction group had its carbon footprint calculated according to the international GHG Protocol standard. The company’s overall carbon footprint for 2022 has decreased by 8.2% year-on-year. Based on this analysis and the decarbonisation recommendations of ČSOB Advisory, a.s., HSF System Construction Group will implement several “green” projects in the Czech Republic and Slovakia in 2024. “We are building photovoltaic power plants on the roofs of buildings in Ostrava and Žilina, where we have our headquarters. We want to use part of the energy to operate charging stations for electric vehicles that will be built on the site in the future. In the coming years, we also plan to expand the existing fleet of hybrid and electric cars designed primarily for short distances,” says Tomáš Hess, Sales Director of the HSF System construction group.
As part of ESG reporting, the company must also be active in other areas such as employee care, community relations, charity and philanthropy. HSF System supports various organisations or projects in the social, sports or health sector. In 2022, HSF System earned the Moravian-Silesian Region Governor’s Award for Socially Responsible Activities for the second time in its history. In 2023, the company also won the absolute victory in the National Award of the Czech Republic for Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development in the Private Sector category. One of the most prestigious domestic awards is granted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in cooperation with the Quality Council of the Czech Republic in accordance with the National Quality Policy of the Czech Republic.
Moreover, HSF System is one of the best managed companies in the Czech Republic, which is confirmed by the award from Deloitte in the Czech Best Managed Companies programme for the best managed company in the Czech Republic in 2023. The expert jury of the prestigious programme evaluated four main areas for each awarded company – corporate strategy, management and financial performance, productivity and innovation, and corporate culture. “We are active in all the areas covered by the concept of ESG – environmental, social and governance, and this is reflected both in the awards we have received from respected institutions and organisations and in our day-to-day operational activities,” adds Tomáš Hess.
