Building authorities in South Bohemia issued 6397 building permits last year

Building authorities in the South Bohemia Region issued 6397 building permits last year. The number of building permits issued fell for the second year in a row. In 2021, the authorities issued 7144 of them. This is based on information published by the Czech Statistical Office (ČSÚ).

The estimated value of construction permits issued last year in the South Bohemia Region amounted to CZK 23 billion, which is 14.4 percent less than in 2022. The average value per building permit was CZK 3.6 million.

The number of building permits issued in South Bohemia was the fourth highest compared to all regions last year, accounting for eight percent of the national statistics. Over half of the permits were for buildings. Almost 29 per cent of permits were for residential buildings and a quarter for non-residential buildings.

In most of the South Bohemian districts the number of issued permits decreased year-on-year, only in Písek and Prachatice the number of issued building permits increased. In the Písek district it was by more than a quarter, in the Prachatice district the increase was 12 percent. Approximately one fifth of all permits issued last year in the region were in the České Budějovice district.

In the Czech Republic, the authorities issued 77,399 building permits last year, down 10.1 percent year-on-year. The indicative value of construction permits issued last year rose by 16.8 percent year-on-year to CZK 601.7 billion.
