Powerdot: Number of e-vehicle charging points in Poland to approach 10k by end of 2024

7 February 2024

The number of electric car charging points in Poland should approach 10,000 by the end of 2024, compared to more than 5,900 at the end of 2023, estimates Powerdot’s General Director in Poland Grigoriy Grigoriev.

According to Grigoriev, we will only see the effects of the investment boom in charging infrastructure in late 2024 and early 2025, as many large projects are currently under construction. Powerdot alone is in the process of building around 1,500 charging points, as part of investments carried out in cooperation with Biedronka, retail parks, petrol stations or franchisees of retail chains, including the Intermarche group.

“The mass of investments carried out throughout Poland by Powerdot and other operators are currently in the phase of awaiting decisions from energy companies regarding the construction of the connection, or waiting for the acceptance of already constructed stations by the Office of Technical Inspection. Most of these investments are not yet visible, as formal procedures are underway, but by the end of 2024 and early 2025 we will see a real rash of charging points in Poland,” said Grigoriev.

According to him, it is very likely that their number will reach 10,000 by the turn of the year, which would mean an increase of 70% in relation to the infrastructure available at the end of 2023, thus doubling the rate of investment recorded last year, with a significant increase in the share of high-powered stations. 10,000 publicly available charging points equates to around 3-4,000 locations where an electric car can be charged.

Powerdot is a pan-European operator and investor in charging stations with Portuguese roots. It operates in six European countries, where it currently has 3,500 charging points for electric cars and is in the process of building another 11,000. In Poland, Powerdot has launched 250 points and is in the process of developing 1,500 more.
