Zlín plans to build a building with 31 rental flats in Na Slanici Street

Zlín is planning to build a building with 31 rental apartments in Na Slanici Street. It will be built on the site where the city had a substandard house demolished in 2020. The construction is planned to start next spring after the land is redeveloped and should be ready in 2025, Jaroslav Chudara, a representative of the town hall, announced today.

The city will release CZK 63 million from its budget for the construction. “The public contract will be co-financed within the framework of the State Investment Support Fund subsidy project. We received the notification of the preliminary evaluation of the application for support under the Rental Housing Programme in August this year, but in order to meet the subsidy conditions it was necessary to tender for the contractor. We have now selected a contractor and the tendered price is lower than originally anticipated. The final price reflects the current decline in the workload of construction companies,” said city councillor Jiří Robenek (Piráti). The state subsidy should amount to CZK 25 million.

The city will offer 28 3+kk flats and three small 1+kk flats in the new four-storey apartment building. Residents will have 31 basements, 14 garages and 24 parking spaces in front of the building. Pedestrian access to the site is also planned. The prices of the flats have not been set yet.

“The construction of new apartments is one of the common priorities of the current city management. The last housing construction took place in 2008 in Malenovice and we are completely lacking larger apartments in the housing stock,” Robenek said. The city is also awaiting the approval of the U Maják flats in the first months of the coming year. The apartments there are primarily aimed at graduates of the University of Zlín. “We need to combat the outflow of young people who leave after graduating. Supported housing is one of the measures to achieve this. At the same time, we are waiting for the evaluation of our application for funds from the Czech Ministry for Regional Development’s subsidy to support the creation of project documentation for the construction of dozens of rental apartments,” Robenek added.
