Poland has become an important centre for Amazon for the development of new technologies. Since the first investment in our country, which was the purchase of the Gdańsk start up IVONA Software in 2012, the company has been constantly locating funds in the development of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and three Technology Development Centers (Amazon Development Center Poland) in Gdańsk, Krakow and Warsaw. Therefore, with the increase in demand for services, Amazon focuses on the development of operations and the efficiency of logistics centers, it was emphasized.

“Investment investment in infrastructure is essential to meet the growing demand from customers, expand product offerings and support more retailers. At the same time, state-of-the-art technologies ensure our employees’ safety and make it easier for them to carry out their daily tasks. These solutions, in turn, affect the nature of work, which is why in our logistics centers we have created over 700 categories of completely new positions requiring appropriate qualifications, and resulting from technological evolution and robotization of logistics processes,” added the regional director of Amazon Operations for Central and Eastern Europe Sławomir Płonka.

In 2022, Amazon created and supported over 70,000 direct and indirect jobs. These include positions for people working in the supply chain and supporting Amazon operations, as well as jobs created by SMEs that sell through the marketplace, reaching hundreds of millions of customers worldwide. According to Keystone’s estimates, Amazon’s investments in Poland in 2012-2022 generated remuneration totaling over PLN 15 billion, it was also emphasized.
