The number of building permits for residential buildings issued in Romania decreased by 23.5 percent in the first nine months compared to the same period last year, data published by the National Institute of Statistics show.
Thus, 26394 building permits for residential buildings were issued between 1 January and 30 September 2023, down 23.5 percent compared to the same period in 2022. Decreases were recorded in all development regions: Bucharest-Ilfov (-1,554 permits), South-Muntenia, North-West, West, North-East, South-East, South-West Oltenia and Centre.
In September 2023, 3083 building permits were issued for residential buildings (-1.0 percent compared to August 2023), with a total usable area of 626,659 sqm. 71.7 percent of all building permits for residential buildings are for rural areas.
