The Czech branch of logistics company Dachser has started operations in a new warehouse in the Světlík industrial zone in České Budějovice, owned by developer VGP. The 14,000 sqm warehouse will be able to store 25,000 pallets. 35 jobs will be created. The company had already leased another 9,500 sqm hall in the area last year.
“The branch in České Budějovice employs 80 people in various logistics professions. It is connected to our dense network of picking services, thanks to which 102 direct routes to 45 destinations in Europe leave the Czech Republic alone every day,” said Jan Pihar, CEO of Dachser Czech Republic.
Last March, Dachser moved its Budweis office to VGP Park. The company now has 24,000 sqm of warehouse and administrative space there. It has invested in a charging station for electric vehicles near its operations. Polter told ČTK that the company will probably lease another hall in Budějovice in the future.
VGP Park is being built from spring 2021 on the outskirts of České Budějovice in the Světlík commercial zone with transport links to the centre and a direct access to the D3 motorway. On a plot of approximately 37 hectares, a complex with seven halls and more than 126,000 square metres of leasable space suitable for logistics or light manufacturing is being built. It will include a parking lot for 30 trucks.
Dachser has been active in the Czech logistics and freight forwarding market since 1992 and has been in České Budějovice since 2006. Last year, the number of shipments increased by about one percent to 1.24 million, the company said. Dachser Czech Republic’s net turnover rose 18.7 percent to CZK 4.78 billion last year. Profit after tax rose nearly 30 percent to CZK 427.1 million. The company is targeting sales of five billion euros this year, according to its annual report. The company employs nearly 600 people in the Czech Republic.
