Polish entrepreneurs are becoming increasingly involved in the reconstruction of Ukraine, which has “jumped” into the top ten export markets, assessed KUKE Export Support Agency President Janusz Wladyczak.
“There is a systematic increase [in sales by Polish companies to Ukraine], and here our approach is important, which is different from the one presented in the media: we claim that the reconstruction of Ukraine is here and now. What will take place after the cessation of hostilities will be the modernization of the country, which is quite different. Our entrepreneurs – contrary to appearances – feel this very well; they want to sell now, and that’s where the growth comes from,” said Vladychak during Banking & Insurance Forum 2023.
“Ukraine has become one of the TOP10 export markets for us. This is also due, of course, to Ukraine’s very large needs. Polish companies are a beneficiary of this,” he assessed.
The president recalled that since the beginning of the war, the Export Credit Insurance Corporation has provided protection for deliveries of all kinds of goods from Polish companies worth about PLN 2 billion, with a very low claim of about PLN 200,000.
“The important thing is that Polish companies are in the supply chains now. What will happen after the cessation of hostilities is a completely different thing. There, there won’t be a big role for banks, especially banks from Poland. It will be individual projects that banks will want to get into because, for example, their customers will be there, or image-wise it will be good for customers. Ukraine will rebuild and modernize primarily from grants. But grants will only be distributed when the dust has settled. It would be total foolishness for Polish companies to wait for that moment,” he concluded.
