PORR is acquiring 60 percent of the Ennstal-based company Sanitär-Elementbau. IGO Industries will hold 40 percent of the shares in the future. Sanitär-Elementbau GmbH a producer of customized installation systems. The prefabricated elements are used in residential, hotel and office construction, shortening construction times and conserving resources.
With its “INSTA-BLOC” brand, Sanitär-Elementbau GmbH is a leader in the production of high-quality installation systems. These are modern, prefabricated building services components that have been proving their worth for years in multi-storey residential and hotel buildings, staff and senior housing, office buildings and hospitals. For example, Sanitär-Elementbau is currently supplying over 800 INSTA-BLOC sanitary walls in a wide variety of designs and equipment for the country’s tallest residential tower (Danubeflats). The project-related planning and production in the Ennstal plant allows a quick and flexible reaction to the requirements in a building project. High quality standards in production, own transports and experienced assembly staff guarantee adherence to delivery dates and a perfect execution.
“INSTA-BLOC installation systems allow us to shorten construction time and still build with high quality,” says PORR CEO Karl-Heinz Strauss. “Usable space is optimally utilized, fire and noise protection requirements are more easily met and resource consumption is reduced. The sanitary walls are planned on a project-specific basis as a fire- and soundproofing-tested system and are made of lightweight concrete. By entering into sanitary element construction, we want to further develop the INSTA-BLOC brand and make it more widely used in construction projects in the interest of our customers.”
INSTA-BLOC’s installation systems are also convincing in the area of sustainability and resource consumption. The prefabricated installation blocks include tub supports, sanitary blocks, sanitary walls and prefabricated bathrooms made of lightweight concrete. The sanitary walls are produced at the Ennstal plant using low-CO2 cement from Lafarge. This saves 12 percent CO2 per cubic meter of concrete and represents a step towards decarbonization. Thus, the additional purchase also fits perfectly into PORR’s Green and Lean strategy.
“Serial prefabrication is on the rise and is also increasingly used for more complex parts, such as installation walls and prefabricated bathrooms. Prefabrication shortens the construction time and reduces the consumption of resources, because it is not manufactured on site, but under standardized conditions in a factory. INSTA-BLOC sanitary walls are planned in Haus im Ennstal on a project-specific basis and manufactured from lightweight concrete. The modern, prefabricated building services components have proven their worth especially for high-rise buildings and for recurring elements in a building. Then it becomes really efficient,” says Iris Ortner, CEO and owner of IGO Industries. She is pleased about the cooperation with PORR and the steady further development of the Ennstal-based company.
Founded in 1975, Sanitär-Elementbau GmbH was previously owned by IGO Industries GmbH. The latter will retain 40 percent of the shares in the future. For the future, PORR plans to further expand production on site in the Enns Valley. Karl-Heinz Strauss announces: “We will expand the product portfolio in line with the requirements of our customers. Our common goal is to further optimize the installation systems and to develop an element that can be adapted even more easily and flexibly to the architectural and static requirements of a construction project.”
