The investment and development company Trigema officially became the new owner of the ski resort in the Giant Mountains town of Rokytnice nad Jizerou on Monday, according to the entry in the Commercial Register. Hospodářské noviny (HN) reported on the final conclusion of the deal today. Trigema bought from TJ Spartak Rokytnice a 100 percent stake in the joint-stock company that previously owned and operated the complex. According to HN, the parties involved did not comment on the price of the deal; Trigema plans to invest CZK 1.3 billion in the development of the complex in the Horní Domky and Studenov areas.
“The purchase of the Rokytnice nad Jizerou ski resort is an opportunity that fits perfectly into our vision to further develop one of our investment pillars. We have been building places for adventure and leisure for more than 15 years and being part of one of the largest ski centres in the Krkonoše was a huge motivation for us,” said Marcel Soural, Chairman of the Board of Trigema, in a press release sent to the Czech Press Agency today. Trigema also includes the resorts of Monínec in Central Bohemia and Samoty in Železná Ruda in Šumava.
The ski resort in Rokytnice, with 20 kilometres of slopes, two four-seat lifts and ten lifts, is the fifth largest in the country. This spring, the Sports and Recreation Association approved its sale to Trigema. One of the reasons why its representatives agreed to the sale was to find a partner capable of investing in the ski resort. “Who would be able to move Rokytnice in a direction that would be competitive with other winter resorts of a similar size,” Marek Nechanický, the chairman of the sports union, said earlier.
Soural told HN that they want to invest about CZK 1.3 billion there in the next few years. “This sum includes three basic areas that need to be resolved here. First of all, the water needed for snowmaking. And there is a noticeable lack of its source. We are therefore going to build a reservoir. Then to modernise the snowmaking system. And last but not least, to modernise the transport facilities and build new ones. For example, we are planning to connect Horní Domky with Studenov by a new cable car, which should be a big step forward for visitors,” said Soural. The speed of investment will depend on the approval of the new master plan, he said.
