Logistics and light industrial spaces developer WDP, expands its local portfolio through a new sale-and-leaseback acquisition of an automotive production unit. The building is located in the metropolitan area of Pitesti, which is an established automotive production cluster, centered around the Dacia Renault plant. The unit has a gross leasable area of approximately 20,000 sqm and will be leased back to the seller under a long-term, triple net, fully indexed contract. According to this, the tenant has the option of expanding the unit.

“Thanks to the efforts of the WDP team, we can celebrate the addition of this production facility to our Romanian portfolio, which now reaches 1.545 million sqm in Romania. We would like to thank the Seller for the very efficient and professional process. With this transaction we further consolidate our Romanian portfolio and once again show that we can support our current and future business partners on a nationwide level,” said Jeroen Biermans, country manager WDP Romania.

At the same time, the new unit included in WDP Romania’s portfolio will be subject to the same energy efficiency measures adopted by the company globally, and will be equipped with the nanoGrid system. Thus, the customer who rents the space will benefit from a real-time energy monitoring tool, which offers the possibility to analyze utility consumption and make well-informed decisions in this regard. In Romania, the large majority of WDP warehouses have obtained EDGE certification, a hallmark of sustainable construction, which requires an average reduction in energy consumption, of water and embedded energy of the materials used by about 30%.

With this new unit added, the portfolio of the Belgian developer WDP reaches, in Romania, a number of 68 logistics real estate properties.
