A warehouse complex is to be built near the Olympia shopping centre in Brno, Chrlice is against

A large storage area for agricultural use is to be built south of the Olympia shopping centre in Brno. The Renfield Group, which is involved in the construction and sale of real estate, wants to redevelop an older agricultural and storage complex, called Courtyard in the Forest, opposite the wastewater treatment plant. Two modern sheds are to be built on the 30-hectare site, one of almost 20,000 square metres, the other smaller with 800 metres. They are to be used by agricultural enterprises for various activities, according to a document on the EIA Information Portal. However, the Chrlice municipality is opposed to the project, and because of its comments, it must undergo an environmental impact assessment.

The complex is connected to U Jezu Street, which also serves as part of the international long-distance cycle route Brno-Vienna. The Brno zoning plan allows for the construction of halls for agricultural use. Therefore, the developer plans that the large hall divided into ten boxes would serve, for example, as a warehouse for machinery or products, an exhibition or sales area for agriculture-related needs or for packing crops. The maximum number of employees would be around 250. According to the announcement, the company would like to build between 2025 and 2027, but it depends on how quickly and successfully the project passes the environmental impact assessment.

Chrlice are seeking a noise and dispersion study that will take into account all planned projects in the immediate area. The area around the Olympia shopping centre is still a development area and more shops and logistics complexes have been built and are to be built there. In addition, the so-called Southern Tangent, which is a motorway that will connect the existing D2 and D52 motorways, is to be built here. Chrlice also disputed the claim that there would be nothing on the site that could threaten the environment in the event of a flood. The site is located in the floodplain of the Svratka River. In addition, the claim of the level of the 100-year water level is contradicted by another project in the pipeline, in which the level is stated to be 110 centimetres higher. The regional authority agreed with all the comments and the investor must take them into account in the next stage of the procedure.

Chrlice are also demanding that a separate, at least three-metre wide path for cyclists and pedestrians be created to cope with the increase in traffic.
