The Polish business group Allegro, which owns the e-shops Mall.cz, CZC.cz and the courier service WeDo, launched an online marketplace in the Czech Republic yesterday. Traders can offer their products at Allegro.cz. Alza.cz and Heureka.cz also have their online marketplaces in the Czech Republic. Kaufland.cz has also newly entered the Czech market this year.

“The launch of Allegro.cz is a key milestone in our ambition to create the most popular e-commerce platform for customers and merchants across Central and Eastern Europe. It also provides Czech merchants with an opportunity to expand their business with the support of a trusted partner who brings years of experience and a wealth of expertise in the world of e-commerce to the Czech Republic,” said Allegro’s Chief Commercial Officer Alvise Favara.

Allegra’s online marketplace in Poland is visited by an average of 21 million users per month, which corresponds to 66 percent of the country’s population over the age of 16, the company said earlier. Allegra’s goal on the Czech market is primarily to expand its offer and adapt it to the needs of its customers, the report said.

Allegro increased its operating profit excluding one-off items by four per cent to 2.15 billion zlotys (almost CZK 11 billion) last year. In the fourth quarter alone, profits rose by a third year-on-year to PLN 668 million. The company also operates the Ceneo.pl price comparison platform. Allegro bought the Mall Group’s online stores, which along with Mall.cz also includes CZC.cz, for EUR 867 million (over CZK 21 billion) at the turn of last year. At the same time, it bought the courier service WeDo.
