Wizz Air will place its 11th aircraft at its base at Warsaw Chopin Airport, bringing the number of seats on offer to nearly 4 million from Warsaw and to more than 12 million from Poland in 2023, the carrier said. Wizz Air will also launch one new route: Warsaw – Agadir (Morocco) and thus the number of routes from Poland will increase to 173.
“We are pleased to be expanding in Warsaw, with which we are proving our commitment to the Polish capital, where we expect to become the number one ultra-low-cost carrier this summer – in terms of seats, where we are adding another aircraft just a few months after announcing the addition of the previous one. Starting in October 2023, we will operate flights aboard 11 aircraft from the airport. Placing our newest aircraft in Warsaw is a special event for us, not only because it allows us to strengthen our market offering, giving customers from Poland the opportunity to travel with us on a total of 173 routes to 27 countries and increasing tourist traffic in such a beautiful country – the 30th aircraft in Poland is a solid milestone in the development of both our and the entire aviation industry in Poland,” said network officer Evelin Jeckel.
The new aircraft will enable the launch of a new route, to Agadir in Marrakech, as well as an increase in the frequency of flights on 13 routes from Warsaw.
With another aircraft at the Warsaw base, the fleet will consist of 11 aircraft. This will increase the number of routes from the capital to 58, including the launch of a connection to Agadir. In addition, the additional capacity will make it possible to increase the frequency of flights from the base to Alicante, Barcelona, Basel, Brussels Charleroi, Copenhagen, Eindhoven, Malaga, Milan Bergamo, Nice, Oslo Sandefjord Torp, Rome, Tenerife and Valencia.
Wizz Air is a European low-cost airline, operating a fleet of about 170 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft.
