The Prague City Council plans to build a apartment building with about 120 flats on city land in U Tyršovy školy Street in Jinonice. The preparation of the project was approved yesterday by the city council. According to the document approved, the project will cost about CZK 38.5 million until the zoning decision is issued and the city estimates the total cost at CZK 717 million, but the amount will change with regard to the form of the building and the development of prices in the construction industry. The councillors also approved the next steps regarding the construction plan for the school in Dolní Počernice.
The building is to be built on a plot of land near the Jinonice campus of Charles University. The project is in charge of the city’s contributory organisation, the Prague Development Company (PDS), which was established by the municipality to prepare for the housing development. According to the document approved today, PDS plans to announce an architectural competition for the design of the building this June and expects to issue a zoning decision in mid-2025.
The council also approved the next steps in the preparation of the construction of a primary school to be built in Dolní Počernice. The city owns extensive land there, on which it plans to build a new district in the future. The new school is to be part of its amenities. “We are considering some form of competition,” said deputy mayor Petr Hlaváček (for STAN). He said the city estimates the cost of building the school at CZK 550 million. It is to include a large sports ground.
PDS is preparing dozens of housing projects on about 680,000 square metres of land that the municipality has entrusted to the organisation. The city wants to expand its housing stock again, providing apartments especially for members of professions essential for the metropolis. In the next ten to 15 years, the municipality wants to build 6,000 to 8,000 flats on its land, and in addition to individual houses, PDS is also preparing larger projects, for example in Dolní Počernice, around the future Nové Dvory D metro station or in Palmovka.
