The number of completed flats in the Pardubice Region fell in January-September

The number of completed flats in the Pardubice Region fell year-on-year between January and September last year. 1,092 flats were built, which is roughly 12 percent fewer than in the same period last year. This is based on data from the Czech Statistical Office.

Construction companies and individuals completed fewer flats in the Pardubice, Svitavsko and Chrudimsko regions, where the year-on-year decline amounts to a tenth of a percentage point to more than a quarter. On the other hand, in the Orlicko Ústí region, housing construction in the third quarter of last year was higher by almost a fifth.

In most regions, with the exception of the Pilsen region and Vysočina, housing construction increased year-on-year. In the Czech Republic, there was an increase of almost 11 per cent in the period from January to September 2022, with 26,910 units built.

The Pardubice Region fared better in housing starts in the three quarters of last year. Builders started 1,686 flats, up two percent year-on-year. Traditionally, the largest number of flats in completed and started construction were single-family houses.

There were fewer housing starts in the Czech Republic in January-September. In the three quarters of last year, construction fell by almost five per cent compared to the previous year. In half of the 14 regions there were fewer housing starts year-on-year. On the contrary, growth was recorded not only in the Pardubice Region, but also in the Hradec Králové Region and the Ústí Region. The Olomouc Region had the highest growth rate, slightly over 50 percent.
