Aldi will open seven new stores on December 29 and 30: in Poznan, Zyrardow, Legionowo, Krakow, Puck, Krosno and Wschowa, the chain reported. The chain has hired more than a dozen employees for the newly opened locations. Aldi closes the year exceeding 250 stores in Poland.
As previously reported by the chain, Aldi wants to have about six hundred stores in Poland within five years. The target is more than a thousand. The discounter is also open to acquisitions. It is interested in outlets of about one thousand square meters. The standard for the chain is areas with a sales floor of about one thousand square meters. This is the benchmark on which Aldi is based, although it also allows outlets minimally smaller and larger. The priority for the chain is large cities, this is the first group of locations that the brand focuses on. It is also a natural direction to fill in the white spots on the map of Poland and to start retail operations where Aldi is not yet present, the company announced.
