During this time, the number of Romanians seeking a better life abroad continues to rise. According to an analysis published by the online recruitment platform eJobs, there have been 10,000 applications for job offers abroad on the platform since the beginning of September.
Price increases for food, energy, and fuel, as well as the uncertainty surrounding the local economy, appear to be recent factors prompting Romanians to consider jobs outside the country. Salaries three to four times what they currently earn also aid in decision making.
The Romanian authorities do not have precise figures on the number of Romanians living abroad. Their estimates range from 5.7 million to 8 million people.
