In Žďár nad Sázavou, people want to wait outside for a whole week to reserve a plot for the construction of a terraced house. The city is offering 27 plots in Vápenická street for a fixed price of CZK 2,357 without tax, reservations will begin on September 12. The order of applicants will be decided. The first people lined up at the municipal office in Žižková street already on Sunday evening, today there are about three dozen of them waiting there. The city provided them with a chemical toilet, electricity and a gazebo where they can hide if it rains. There is also a place where tents can be.
“We were a little surprised by the situation,” said Blanka Sobolová, spokeswoman for the Židár town hall. She added that when the city similarly sold land in Barvířská street, which is also in the Klafar locality, people waited for the Monday reservation over the weekend. According to her, the number of interested parties was now difficult to estimate, also due to the current difficult economic situation.
“In any case, we are very happy that those people are interested in the land. We tried to provide them with some facilities there as much as possible,” said the spokeswoman. She pointed out that this method of sale may not be pleasant for everyone, but it seems the most fair to the city.
These are small plots with an area of around 400 square meters. For their sale, the city did not choose the route of an auction or an auction, during which the price of the land could rise, because it wants to give a chance to a larger number of people, Mayor Martin Mrkos (Žďár-living city) told journalists this in July.
In front of the city hall this afternoon, people were sitting on folding chairs, often with mobile phones and laptops in their hands. A few children were running around. Those waiting said, they sleep in a tent or in cars. Partners and family members take turns there, someone took a vacation because of it. Those approached did not complain about the procedure of the town hall. “Relatively low price and nice location for living,” said one of them who arrived on Monday morning. He believes that plots at such a price and in a good location in Žďár nad Sázavou will not be available for several years.
“I was the very first to arrive, so I’ve been here since Sunday evening,” said Jiří Sláma, who is sitting on a fishing chair in front of the town hall in Žďár nad Sázavou. He has a laptop in his hand and wants to spend more than a week waiting for the plot reservation by working.
The reservation of plots will start next week on Monday, the city office will receive applicants from eight o’clock in the morning.
