Chimcomplex shuts down production at the Borzeşti platform for two weeks

23 August 2022

Chimcomplex, the largest chemical products plant in Romania, announced the temporary closure of the production activity within the Borzeşti platform for a period of 14 days, due to the rising prices of electricity and natural gas.

Due to rising energy prices, Chimcomplex reported a sharply declining profit in S1/2022 and points out that the negative trend will continue until the end of this year. The company ended the first six months with a net profit of RON 166 million, down 41.3 percent compared to S1/2021.

“Financial results are decreasing compared to the same period in 2021 as a result of the alarming increase in electricity and natural gas prices. (…) Like other companies in the industry, we need the intervention of the state to amortize the increased prices for gas and electricity before taking into account the reorganization of production and the optimization of the organizational structure”, the company said.
