Rents in Romania remain among the cheapest in Europe

18 August 2022

Romania is at the bottom of the ranking of the top European countries with the cheapest rents in Europe, according to the data of the Deloitte Property Index 2022 study. In the ranking by cities, the most expensive in our country is Cluj-Napoca, next to Bucharest with a price of 7,5 euros per sqm, followed by Braşov with 6.6 euros per sqm.

“Romania is among the analyzed countries where apartment prices in big cities exceed the national average, and Cluj-Napoca stands out with a difference of over 50 percent, while in Bucharest they are only 25 percent higher. Therefore, the development discrepancies from one region to another are also manifested on the real estate market, both at the transaction price level and in terms of investors’ appetite for the development of residential projects”, says Marius Vasilescu, Director of Financial Consulting, Deloitte Romania.

He appreciates that the western area has a definite advantage from this point of view and it is expected that urban concentrations will appear in the other regions along with the modernization of the infrastructure that favors economic development.
