Automation in their company was noticed by 16% of employees and 32% of enterprises, mainly logistics and IT, according to the “Polish Labor Market Barometer” Personnel Service.

“Companies have chosen the course for automation a long time ago, but the modernization process has not accelerated significantly over the past two years. Entrepreneurs who operated in conditions of uncertainty frozen investments and focused on solving the most tangible problems related to, among others, interrupted supply chains, lack of There is no doubt, however, that the labor market is changing, and technology is responsible for the majority of these changes,” said Krzysztof Inglot, a labor market expert, founder of Personnel Service.

The “Polish Labor Market Barometer” of the Personnel Service shows that while a year ago 38% of entrepreneurs believed that automation had accelerated in their industry, this year this opinion was expressed by 32% of companies. The best in this respect is in logistics (67%) and IT (59%) and in medium-sized enterprises (38% vs. 29% of small and 28% of large). Every second entrepreneur declares no changes in the field of technology in his industry. It is mainly about the HoReCa sector (80% of indications), construction (73%) and trade (53%).

Every fifth company admits that automation and / or robotization solutions are currently implemented in the company, 17% are planning it in the near future, and 19% are not currently planning, but do not rule it out in the coming years. 33% of entrepreneurs do not have any plan of automating activities in the company. The decisive leaders of the technological revolution are large companies, among which every third focuses on automation. In the group of small enterprises, 9% of them carry out similar activities.

“The attitude to automation depends on many variables. As this year’s ‘Polish Labor Market Barometer’ has shown, enterprises with a larger workforce are more enthusiastic about this topic. Already 4 out of 10 representatives of a medium-sized company and every fourth representative of a large company indicate that their company prepared to increase expenditure on robotization. In the case of small companies, as many as 60% are not ready for such a step. However, it is worth remembering that increasing the level of automation of a smaller company in the long run may have the best effects in the form of, among others, business growth, improvement of the quality of activities and thus increase competitiveness,” added Inglot.

Every second employer assumes a reduction in jobs resulting from automation. For this reason, representatives of the construction industry are not anticipating layoffs (63%). However, the awareness of employers regarding the need to retrain employees and equip them with new skills should be appreciated. Training in the use of new systems and machines is planned by 44% of companies, and 21% will retrain the people who will be taken by the robot. Additionally, every fifth company is not planning such activities yet, but it does not exclude the necessity of training or retraining for employees in the future.

The survey of employees and employers in Poland was carried out on the nationwide Ariadna research panel using the CAWI (Camputer-Assister Web Interview) method on February 8-12, 2022.
