Security company Eset is investing EUR 8.3 million, ie about CZK 204 million, in expanding its development centers in the Czech Republic. Investments will be directed mainly to personnel costs and expansion of facilities for new employees, the number of which is to double in the Czech Republic this year and next, the company announced.
Eset operates three of its 13 branches in the Czech Republic and approximately one-seventh of all the company’s employees working in research and development work for the company in the Czech Republic. According to the current plan, the number and location of individual offices in Prague, Brno and Jablonec nad Nisou will remain the same, but the plan is to expand the competencies and the related increase in the capacity of individual workplaces. The company’s ambition is to have 200 positions in research and development in the Czech Republic, which will be approximately 20 percent of all employees in this area.
“We consider the Czechia and Slovakia historically as our domestic markets. This is true not only in trade but also in research and development. Our global ambition is to continue to increase the share of employees in the technology part of the company. the high potential that we intend to use and to open a large part of the new positions right here,” said Juraj Malcho, Technology Director of Eset.
The Eset Research division has currently opened new offices for employees of the branch in Jablonec nad Nisou, and the expansion of the offices in Prague will be completed during the second quarter of this year. The increase in the capacity of the branch in Brno is tentatively planned for next year. Currently, the company has also opened dozens of new development positions.
Headquartered in Bratislava, Eset has been developing security software for home and business users since 1987. Last year, the Czech branch increased its revenues by 6.5 percent year on year to a record CZK 461.5 million.
