Agricultural enterprises of IMC in Ukraine have started their spring sowing campaign, the company said. They plan to sow sunflower and corn about 70,000 hectares in the Chernihiv, Sumy and Poltava oblasts. The company is provided with all the necessary agricultural machinery and means of production (seeds, fertilizers, plant protection chemicals, fuel) for the planned sowing areas.
Previously, the company carried out works related to the fertilization and protection of winter wheat sown in autumn 2021 on an area of 18 thousand. hectares. Currently, winter wheat is in good condition. Taking into account winter wheat, approximately 70% of the company’s land bank is planned to be sown. In the remaining areas, it is necessary to carry out demining works, as active hostilities took place there in March 2022. The end of the spring sowing campaign is scheduled for the end of May, it was reported.
As a result of active military operations in the vicinity of Chernihiv, the company’s grain elevator was partially damaged in February-March 2022. The damage is not of a critical nature. Repair work is planned to be completed in the coming weeks.
Due to the blockade of Ukraine’s seaports in the Black Sea by the Russian Federation, it is currently impossible to export grain through these ports. Therefore, from the beginning of the war, the company’s export activities were suspended. However, the company, together with its customers (international grain traders) and with the support of the Ukrainian government, is trying to develop alternative logistic chains for grain exports via the seaports of other neighboring countries, has been completed.
