Ukrainian refugees receive free houses and agricultural land in several villages in Romania. For example, in the village of Rachis, 40 kilometers from Alba Iulia, a young man renovated 12 houses that he now, together with the local authorities, gives free of charge to Ukrainians.
Such initiatives have appeared in several places in the country. The mayor of Păltiniș – Botoșani offers 200 houses and land to refugees who want to settle in his commune.
“Talking to the citizens, they said: we leave the houses as long as necessary, we even leave them permanently, but on the condition that they be thrifty people, to keep those goods and even to develop them,” said Costel Romanescu, mayor of Păltiniș commune.
