Polish PIT tax reduction will apply continuously, not only this year

24 March 2022

“The changes presented today, including the reduction of the personal income tax (PIT) rate to 12% from 17%, will apply permanently, not occasionally – only this year,” said Deputy Minister of Finance Artur Soboń.

“We want this system to work in advance payments from July this year. […] We are talking about a tax system that will apply in 2023, so we are not talking about any episodic solution for 2022, but about a solution that will also be a solution for next tax years,” Soboń said during a press conference.

He added that according to the plan, the Council of Ministers is to deal with the draft of changes, currently being submitted for consultations, in mid-April, and at the end of April, this draft is to be submitted to the Sejm.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced today that the PIT rate will be reduced to 12% from 17%. elimination of the middle class tax relief.

In addition, the government wants the NHF health insurance premium to be included in the costs of the NHF with the flat 19% tax rate up to PLN 8,700.

It is also assumed that a single parent can fully account for a child.
