71,420 homes were completed in 2021, up 3,604 from 2020, according to data released by the National Institute of Statistics (NIS). In the fourth quarter of 2021, 21,799 homes were put into use, increasing by 2,473 homes, compared to the fourth quarter of 2020.
NIS data show a decrease in the share of completed housing in urban areas (from 62.3 percent in 2020 to 59.5 percent in 2021) and an increase in rural areas (from 37.7 percent in 2020 to 40,5 percent in 2021).
At the same time, compared to 2020, in 2021, the number of homes made from private funds increased (+3,735 homes), while the number of homes made from public funds decreased (-131 homes).
