The Labor Office in Pilsen registers 1,300 places from more than 100 companies that want refugees

The Labor Office in Pilsen (ÚP) today registers 1,300 vacancies at workplaces in the Pilsen Region from more than 100 companies that want to employ Ukrainian refugees. In a week, the numbers rose by about a third. The PO adds a list every day, is available at the Regional Assistance Center for Assistance to Ukraine (KACPU). Ukrainians who are interested in work receive an offer with contacts there, according to Tomáš Moravec from ÚP. If they have accommodation outside Pilsen, they must go to the relevant district offices of the Labor Office.

KACPU in Pilsen has been operating since March 1, and in recent days 700 to 800 refugees have passed through it in 24 hours, a total of over 8,000.

According to Moravec, ÚP has all vacancies freely accessible on the website, of which it registered 36,000 at the end of February. Those interested can go through the offer and contact the employer themselves. The Labor Office also has information for Ukrainians and their potential employers in Czech and Ukrainian. One week ago, the region and the Labor Office sent 1,600 companies in the region.

According to information from ČTK, companies producing car parts from Pilsen, Bor u Tachova, Přeštice and Hrádek u Rokycan were particularly interested, but also the Prazdroj brewery and an employment agency. According to Moravec, companies in the region have long been mainly looking for assembly and auxiliary workers in production, operation of lines and machines, construction workers, masons, mechanics, warehouse workers, locksmiths and drivers.

Only dozens of positions are suitable for women, who together with children make up 88 percent of refugees passing through KACPU. For them, it would be appropriate to offer places for kitchen helpers, cooks, cleaning staff and seamstresses. Pilsen offers 20 places to clean the city on the first district. They exceptionally demand social institutions and hospitals; nurses must provide evidence of professional training.

Applicants for work among Ukrainians have not yet gathered at the Labor Office. ÚP works in KACPU for two shifts, seven days a week from 07:00 to 19:00, it always has four employees there. “There they fill in requests for extraordinary immediate help and then they can possibly handle the work according to their place of residence,” said President Rudolf Špoták (Pirates). Many of them do not do so yet, they mainly need a residence permit, a visa and health insurance. “They also come to us at ÚP, but so far in reasonable numbers. There is a counter reserved for them at the bottom, they can apply for extra help there and find out about employment,” Moravec said.

According to the governor, Ukrainians who are interested in working in the region must contact the branches of the Labor Office, which collects the offers of companies. Employment agencies and companies that wanted to set up recruitment stands in front of KACPU are not allowed there. Ukrainians appeared in front of the KACPU, posing as interpreters, given a distinctive vest, and then lured staff under agencies, which was already being handled by the supervising police. KACPU is therefore handing out warning leaflets.
