JRD Development, a member of the JRD Group, has completed the construction of the energy-saving Michelangelo Residence project in Prague 10. The architecturally distinctive house with 29 apartments is complemented by two commercial spaces and a small park with a playground and gazebo. The project, in which the developer tested a new type of ventilation duct to increase acoustic comfort, is already completely sold out.
Michelangelo’s residence includes 29 energetically passive apartments with a healthy indoor environment, which is complemented by a loggia or terrace and a parking space with preparation for the installation of a charging station for an electric car. The project also includes two non-residential premises for commercial use and a small park with greenery, which is watered by a rainwater tank with a volume of 19 m2, a playground and a gazebo. The design of the gazebo, which attracts with its attractive artistic solution, attention to detail and connection with the surroundings, comes from the winner of the student architectural competition of the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Architecture, Czech Technical University in Prague. The new apartment building is inspired by the work of the important Renaissance personality Michelangelo Buonarroti: the entrance is decorated with a large glass area detailing part of the fresco of the Creation of Adam from the Sistine Chapel ceiling and the floor designations refer to the artist’s paintings, sculptures or architectural works in Rome, the Medici Library of St. Lawrence and the Medici Chapels in Florence, David, Piet and the Holy Family). It is also planned to install a sculpture based on a fresco of the Creation of Adam by the famous sculptor Jakub Flejšar, which will be placed in a public space in front of the building.
In the Michelangelo Residence project, the developer placed a strong emphasis on a healthy indoor environment. It is therefore has a sophisticated system installed, consisting of heat pumps for heating and cooling attic units, controlled ventilation with heat recovery and photovoltaic panels: “In cooperation with UCEEB CTU in Prague and the Isover division of Saint-Gobain Construction Products CZ, in addition, as one of the first residential developers, we tested a new type of Climaver® ventilation duct made of fully recyclable material. We compared it with a classic sheet metal pipe with a silencer. By measuring the sound pressure levels at the noise source (ie at the outlet) in the living rooms, we found that the benefit of the new type of pipe is 10 dB. Compared to the standard 30 dB, we have reached an above-standard level of 20 dB. Thanks to the wider use of this novelty in other JRD projects as well, we can guarantee apartment owners an even quieter environment, which will be appreciated even by very sensitive individuals,” adds Petr Valeš, product manager of JRD Development.
