Olomouc Region is preparing to establish a Regional Assistance Center to assist Ukraine

The Olomouc Region plans to set up a Regional Assistance Center to help Ukraine. It could find facilities in the Haná Barracks building, the region is negotiating with the state, spokeswoman Eva Knajblová announced today.

Through its website, the region also coordinates the assistance that residents offer to refugees. Other cities and spontaneously also individuals, including owners of accommodation facilities, are also involved in helping Ukrainian refugees.

On Sunday, the Crisis Staff of the Olomouc Region, which was expanded to include representatives of 13 municipalities with extended powers, the management of the Olomouc University Hospital and Palacky University, discussed providing assistance to people fleeing Russian aggression in Ukraine. “We are currently working on the establishment of the Regional Assistance Center for Assistance to Ukraine (KACPUK), which will handle all basic services for incoming refugees, mostly women and children … A serious option is the operation of this center in the Haná Barracks building in Olomouc. “said President Josef Suchánek (Pirates and STAN).

The large area of ​​the Haná barracks in the historical center of the city is currently empty, the Office for Representation of the State in Property Matters is trying to sell it in a tender, and another round is to take place on Tuesday.

The region has again activated the address pomoc@olkraj.cz, where people can turn with an offer of help. People, companies and organizations can also offer their accommodation or material assistance to refugees through the form on the region’s website. The head of the crisis management department, Alena Hložková, announced today that 12 accommodation offers have so far come this way.

Individual cities also offer specific help, the Czech News Agency found out. Jeseník, for example, is preparing for the arrival of refugees who are already waiting at the border. “These are mothers with children. We have appointed an aid coordinator at the Jeseník Municipal Office, which currently collects accommodation offers from individuals, companies, organizations and institutions. We have set up a telephone line and e-mail address where people can contact offers. We are organizing the reception of the necessary equipment and materials through firefighters,” said City Hall spokeswoman Lucie Musialová today.

Prostejov also wants to offer crisis accommodation. Women and children fleeing the war also accept Hranice in the Přerov region, according to information on the town’s website, more than thirty refugees have already passed through Hranice, some of whom have continued. Transport from Poland, accommodation and meals there are provided by the city’s crisis staff, police officers also help, some refugees have already found a base in Lázně Teplice nad Bečvou, according to information from social networks. The family, which was transferred from the Slovak-Ukrainian border by singer David Koller, also ended up in the city.

Small municipalities also offer help, and Ostružná in the Jesenice region or Branná and Jindřichov in the Šumperk region have joined the collection of medical supplies.
