Czech Television is organizing a benefit concert for Ukraine on March 1 in the center of Prague

Czech Television (CT) will hold a benefit concert on March 1 on Wenceslas Square in Prague to help people affected by the conflict in Ukraine. The bands Mig 21, Chinaski and Pražský výběr, Marie Rottrová and Tomáš Klus and musicians from the Czech Philharmonic will perform at the event. Many other artists are gradually joining the program. Proceeds will go to the collection People in Need SOS Ukraine, according to CT spokeswoman Karolína Blinková.

“Dozens of artists will perform without the right to a fee. The hour-and-a-half program, which also provides viewers with an insight into the current situation in Ukraine or an insight into the life of Ukrainians in the Czech Republic, will be performed by Světlana Witowská and Daniel Stach,” said Blinková.

They broadcast live from 20:10. Similarly, last year, ČT initiated a benefit Concert for Moravia held at Kampa in Prague with a record proceeds from donor SMS messages to help villages affected by the natural disaster.

Proceeds from Tuesday’s concert will go to the People in Need collection of SOS Ukraine. The organization has been providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine since 2014, and as soon as the situation allows, its teams will focus on providing the most basic needs – food and facilities for domestic refugees. People in Need is ready to help not only in Ukraine, but also in neighboring countries if necessary, if they are hit by a refugee wave.

This Sunday, the association Podtvrzí and Čítárna Unijazz are organizing a benefit concert Cultural Infusion in Lucerna music bar in support of Ukraine. All earnings will go to the Red Cross. Performed by Zrní, Ventolin, Bert & Friends, Madhouse Express, Pork Comets, Adrian T. Bell and others.

The Czech cultural scene, led by cultural institutions such as the Freedom Festival, Signal Festival, Slaughterhouse 78, Rock for People, Prague Pride and others, has decided to define Russia’s aggression in Ukraine, join the joint call #culture and Ukraine on March 3. from 18:00 benefit concert at Prague’s Kampa. Its aim is to show solidarity with the Ukrainian people and raise money to support them. Czech musicians and personalities of the cultural scene will perform during the concert. The program will be specified in the coming days.

Various Czech cultural, academic and social institutions have expressed their support for Ukraine. Theaters are added with additional support after the symbolic hoisting of flags. Some have announced a benefit show. The organizers of the 3KinoFest and Ukraine film fest festivals will express their support and solidarity to Ukraine by screening films in several Prague cinemas. Proceeds from the screening will be donated to the transparent account of the non-profit organization Post Bellum, which provides specific assistance to the defenders of Ukraine.
