All flights to Ukraine are still canceled at Prague Airport

All flights to Ukraine are still canceled at Prague Airport. None of the six planned flights to Kiev will depart today, announced Prague Airport spokeswoman Klára Divíšková. Carriers will cancel connections in the coming days. The first two flights were canceled on Thursday due to the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine.

During the winter, four carriers flew regularly from Prague’s Václav Havel Airport to Ukraine, operating a total of five scheduled routes. Most flights went to Kiev, others to Lviv and Odessa.

The operation of the route to Kiev was interrupted by Czech Airlines at least until March 2. They had scheduled flights today and during the weekend. Other routes between Prague and Ukraine are provided by the Ukrainian airlines Bees Airline, Ukraine International Airlines and SkyUp Airlines. Due to the still closed airspace over Ukraine, they will also continue to disrupt their connections.

In the following months, air traffic from the Czech Republic to Ukraine was to intensify. For example, another line to Lviv was to start operating in March, and new lines to Kharkov, Odessa and Zaporizhia from May. However, their launch will continue to depend on the development of the situation in Ukraine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Thursday morning that he had given permission for a special military operation in Ukraine’s Donbas. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba then said that Putin had launched a full-fledged invasion of Ukraine and that the country would defend itself. According to the Ukrainian General Staff, the target of the Russian invasion is the capital Kiev.
