23 February 2022

OMV Petrom’s gas production in Romania will decrease this year as well, but less compared to the sharp decline in 2021, according to estimates by company officials. Christina Verchere, CEO of OMV Petrom, declared that the decrease in the company’s gas production this year will be 7 percent compared to 2021.

Last year, Petrom’s gas production fell by 12 percent compared to 2021, after a dramatic drop of about 14.5 percent in the last quarter of the year compared to the last quarter of 2020. Thus, Petrom’s gas extraction dropped below the level of 4 billion cubic meters of gas, to about 3.7 billion, the lowest level in the company’s history.

However, the company aims to invest about RON 2.6 billion this year in the exploration and production segment.
