An architect from Bucharest was sentenced to imprisonment for an illegally built block in the center of the Capital. He falsified the necessary documentation for the 4-storey building, and the Bucharest Court of Appeal ruled that the block should be demolished, at the expense of the developer, and the other three defendants, who also received 6 months in prison with suspension.
If the defendants do not start the demolition procedures of the block, then the Capital City Hall will be able to do so.
Investigators say the architect fabricated a file that contained all false documents such as: demolition permit for existing buildings on the ground, approval from the State Inspectorate for Construction, approvals from the Ministry of Culture and Culture Department of the City Hall and building permit for the new building.
In the meantime, the land on which the building is being built has been put up for sale.
