Jihlava is starting to select suppliers for CZK 1.3 billion arena construction

Jihlava has launched a tender for the construction of the Horáčka multifunctional arena with an estimated price of CZK 1.3 billion. The conditions of the tender for the supplier were approved by the city council on Monday. The deadline for submission of bids will end on March 31. David Beke, ODS city councilor and arena construction manager, announced this on Facebook today. If the contract with the winner is signed by the beginning of June, the construction of the arena could begin at the turn of August and September.

“We have managed to take another important step on the way to the goal. We have announced the most open fair tender procedure, which many companies can apply for,” Beke said on Facebook. According to him, the tender also includes the demolition of the old winter stadium, on the site of which the arena will be built.

“According to the final bid price for the construction contractor, the scope of the volume of competed supplies will be adjusted so that we can fit into the money available for the entire event,” said Beke.

The Vysočina region has already promised to contribute half a billion crowns to the arena, the city should spend 600 million CZK. Jihlava could get another 300 million crowns for this project from the National Sports Agency.

In January, the Seznam Zprávy server stated that the first recipients of money from the subsidy program of the National Sports Agency to support investments in sports facilities are to be projects for multifunctional halls in Brno and Jihlava.

According to the councilor, the tender for the construction contractor was launched today by posting in the public procurement bulletin. He said that the competition was transnational in scope and therefore needed to be published in both the national and European gazettes. The link should start working on Thursday.

According to the councilor, other competitions related to the construction of the arena will be announced in the near future, and will also concern the building administrator, gastronomy supplies, stage equipment, machinery and equipment, and interior parts.

Since last year, the city has been looking for possible savings in the arena project, also due to fears of an unpredictable rise in prices on the construction market. Beke told the city council at the January meeting. At that time, he stated that a number of changes had taken place in the project, but they should not have an impact on functionality and which the layman should not be aware of. For example, the range of glass parts on the facades and in the interior was reduced, and on the outdoor areas, the originally considered stone was replaced by concrete elements.
