The Ana Hotels hotel company will complete the renovation of the Athénée Palace Hilton hotel in Bucharest, this summer.
“We exceed the initial budget of EUR 25 million, the investment in renovation will reach EUR 30-40 million. 430 people work on the renovation site every day. We are renovating a building dating back to 1914, it is difficult to come up with modern technology and materials. In June we will complete the renovation of the rooms, at the end of the year we will finish the renovation of the public spaces, and in the first part of next year the restorations,” said George Copos, owner of the Ana Hotels hotel group.
The investment is partly made from its own funds and part loan from BRD Groupe Société Générale.
Athénée Palace has undergone three major renovations: the first in 1937, the second in 1944, and the third in 1993. In October 2020, Ana Hotels began its fourth major renovation.
