New company registrations increased by 12.4% y / y, bankruptcies decreased by 28.8% y / y in 2021.

In the whole of 2021, 350,471 company registrations were recorded, i.e. 12.4% more than in 2020, and in the case of bankruptcy this number was 376, i.e. decreased by 28.8% y / y, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported.

The number of business registrations in the fourth quarter of 2021 amounted to 88,605 compared to 75,925 in the corresponding period of the previous year. In the fourth quarter of 2021, an increase in the number of registrations was observed in all sectors presented: in accommodation and catering by 43.7%, in information and communication by 24.9%, in transport and storage by 23.6%, in industry by 18.2%, in construction by 14.7%, in services by 13.0%, in trade; repair of motor vehicles by 5 , 9%. In the distinguished legal forms, the largest increase in registration (over 7 times) was in limited joint-stock partnerships, and the largest decrease in cooperatives (by 39.3%).

In Q4 last year. the largest increase in the number of business registrations (by 43.7%) took place in the accommodation and catering section, it was reported.

The number of bankruptcies of enterprises decreased by 17.9% in the fourth quarter of 2021 compared to the same quarter last year, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported.

A decrease in the number of bankruptcies was recorded in trade; repair of motor vehicles (20 vs. 34), construction (9 vs. 15), accommodation and catering (3 vs. 6), transport and warehouse management (6 vs. 8), information and communication (1 vs. 3 ) and in services (15 vs.16). An increase in the number of bankruptcies was recorded in industry (27 vs.19). In the distinguished legal forms, a smaller number of bankruptcies was recorded, among others, in limited liability companies (50 vs 65 entities) and public companies (0 vs.6 4 entities). Among the entities for which the bankruptcy was announced, 57.5% were limited liability companies (compared to 61.3% in Q4 2020), and 21.8% were natural persons running a business (compared to 18, 9% in the fourth quarter of 2020), reported the Central Statistical Office.
