International chain of non-food stores, Action, officially opened its second distribution center in Poland, located in Bieruń (Śląskie Voivodeship). It is the company’s eleventh logistics facility of its kind in Europe and the first fully operated by Action outside the Netherlands. The Distribution Center in Bieruń received the BREEAM “Excellent” certificate and obtained the highest score in its category. Action opened its first store in Poland in 2017 and continues dynamic development on this market. There are 176 stores in the country, and the Action brand is present in all provinces. The opening of the distribution center in Bieruń is another large investment that will support Action’s further expansion in Poland.
Over the past four years, Action has regularly increased the number of stores opened in Poland. The brand is present in all provinces in the country, in 176 locations. The company employs over 2,500 people in Poland and has the ambition to increase this number to 3,000 by the end of May 2022.
“The dynamic development of Action began with the entry into the Polish market, which shows that Poles love shopping in our stores, among others too often rotating assortment, low prices and good quality,” says Sławomir Nitek, CEO of Action Polska. “I am very proud of what we have managed to achieve with the Polish team working both in stores and in distribution centers. Plans for further development of Action in Poland are still ambitious. We will continue to strengthen the Polish branch of the company and its supply chain,” he adds.
Second distribution center in Poland:
Action’s eleventh distribution center started operating in Bieruń in October. Today’s official opening is also a milestone for Action’s development in Eastern Europe. The Bieruń distribution center is the first of its kind outside the Netherlands and is fully managed by Action.
The building has an area of 60,800 sqm, of which over 58,000 sqm is warehouse space with a place for the storage of 56,000 pallets. The remaining 2,500 sqm is filled with offices and social rooms. The distribution center will support up to 200 stores throughout Poland. Bieruń provides good infrastructure and an excellent location, which will support the development of Action and supply existing and future stores in Poland. In the long term, the distribution center will create over 200 jobs in the region.

Action and the international developer of warehouse space Panattoni have planned a distribution center with particular care for the natural environment.
“In the design of the building, we have combined functionality and attention to sustainable development, taking into account as many environmentally friendly aspects as possible – from the materials used, to construction details and devices installed in the building, explains Sławomir Nitek.”
The facility obtained the BREEAM certificate at the “Excellent” level, with a record number of points in this category in Poland so far – 77.1 percent. The distribution center in Bieruń uses many solutions in the field of sustainable development and energy efficiency, such as solar panels for water heating, photovoltaic panels for electricity production, smart energy and water meters, energy-saving LED lighting in the building and its surroundings, and electric car charging stations.
