Data from the Ministry of Family and Social Policy (Ministry of Family and Social Policy) indicate that over PLN 114,500 were spent, work permits for citizens of Asian countries in 2021, an increase of 80% y / y and 67% more than in 2019.
Last year, work permits in Poland were granted to 504,000 foreigners, of which 114,542 concerned people from 40 Asian countries. For comparison, in 2019, 69,000 permits were issued for them, and a year later 5,000 less. in the case of Ukrainians, for whom the number of permits increased from 295 thousand in 2020 to 325 thousand last year, in the case of Asians, the number of candidates for work in Poland significantly exceeded expectations, according to the report.
The largest number of work permits in 2021 were granted to Indians (15,300), and their number increased by 87% within 12 months. Right behind them, for the first time on the podium, are the citizens of Uzbekistan, who obtained a record 15,000 last year. permits. This is almost a threefold increase compared to the previous year (5.8 thousand in 2020). An 80% increase was recorded by employees from the Philippines, who obtained 13,200 permits.

The Uzbeks were the undisputed leader last year, who obtained 15,000 permits, practically tripling the result from 2020. Noticeable increases were also recorded in the case of Turkish citizens, where the number of permits almost tripled from 2,600 up to 7,300 in 2021. Among Indonesian citizens, there was an increase from 3,800 up to 7,900 permits, and Bangladesh, from 3,700 up to 7,500.
“Last year, the number of permits for any of the Asian countries did not exceed 10,000. This year it was exceeded by four countries, and four more: Georgia, Indonesia, Bangladesh and Taiwan are approaching this border. Interestingly, out of 40 Asian countries analyzed, We see declines in only 8. There were around 900 fewer statements issued for South Koreans and 277 less for Mongolians.In other countries, the differences were only a few dozen fewer statements during the year. In 2020 the situation was opposite and only 8 countries recorded increases. This shows the scale of changes that have taken place in the last 12 months,” added Inglot.
The list of countries whose citizens applied for work permits in Poland, compared to 2020, did not include the Maldives and Palestine, while Laos and the United Arab Emirates appeared in it.
